If you’re getting Error 1603 while installing QuickBooks, then there are a few solutions you can try to avoid the error. 

Install QBToolHub.Exe File: 

Go to the internet browser and download the tool hub’s latest version. Open the file from the download and run it to install it properly. After that, open the QuickBooks tool hub and look for ‘installation issues’. Select it and choose the ‘QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool’. The tool will automatically search for any issues in QuickBooks and will fix them one by one.

 The diagnosis process takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Once it’s done, open QuickBooks, and you will see the issue has been resolved. If you already have the tool hub, then just update to its latest version.  

Updating Windows to its latest version

  • Go to the Windows settings. 
  • Select “Windows Update”
  • Click on “Check for Updates“.From there, you can see if there are any latest versions of your Windows or not
  • If there is an update, then update your Windows and download the latest version.

To resolve the Microsoft Windows components problem, you need to download the ‘QuickBook Install Diagnostic tool’. The tool will resolve any problems regarding .NET Framework, MSXML, & C++. The steps are below: 

  • Open your desktop and go to the ‘admin’. 
  • There select the “QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool”. Search for it if you can find it. 
  • Select “Install Diagnostic tool”.
  • If there are any background applications running, then close them and run the QBInstall_Tool_v2.exe file.
  • After that, click on the complete scan option to scan your whole system.

If you are using a CD to install QuickBooks desktop 2021, insert the disc and lose all your QuickBooks installing windows. If you’re using Windows 10/7/XP then follow the instructions below: 

For Windows 10: 

  • Go to the Windows search bar and then type msiexec.exe /forum “d:\QBOOKS\msxml.msi” and hit enter.
  • There you can see whether the file is located in the local disk D or not. If not, then store it in another drive. 

For Windows 7 or Vista:

  • Click on the Start button and next click on the windows search bar. 
  • Type msiexec.exe /forum “D:\QBOOKS\msxml.msi” and hit enter. 
  • If your file is located in the local disk D or not. 

Windows XP:

  • Click on the run option from the Windows start button.
  • Type msiexec.exe /forum “D:\QBOOKS\msxml.msi” and hit enter. 
  • Do the same thing as previously mentioned. 

Choose selective startup mode while installing QuickBooks Desktop

Often a third-party app can stop the installation process. In those cases, use the selective startup mode when installing the QuickBooks.

First, make the data and create a backup of the company file. Also, keep a copy of the QuickBooks desktop product key and license info.

After that, follow the steps below to open your system in selective startup mode. 

  • Close all your QuickBooks installing windows and press hold the command – ‘Windows + R‘. 
  • The windows search bar will open and there type ‘msconfig‘ and hit the ‘OK‘ button.
  • Select the ‘General Tab’ > ‘Selective startup’ option > ‘Load system services’ > ‘Hide all Microsoft services‘/ ‘disable all’. 
  • Also uncheck all the Microsoft services checkbox.
  • Once you’re done, click on the windows Installer checkbox. 
  • After that hit ‘OK’ and reboot your system. 
  • Now uninstall and then install QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Once that is done, switch to normal startup mode.
